Hi folks. So, I'm researching different surgeons now, and most likely, this year, I will take a plunge and book the operation. I conducted the investigation a couple of months ago and decided that Bizanga(Belgium) will be the right guy. However, a week ago, I returned to this forum to check the latest posts in the hair transplant section and noticed a new name - Kaan Pekiner. Then, I started to dig deeper, his results looked very natural, and almost all lads had a great density when they reached 12 months of the post-op frame.
I want to ask. How do you guys see this Doctor? There are at least two threads related to him here on hairloss talk:
1. https://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/threads/dr-keser-ankara-turkey-14-11-2018.121070/
2. https://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/threads/1520-fue-with-dr-kaan-pekiner-in-ankara-turkey.126452/
Both look abandoned but still contain a decent amount of useful information and give a sense of expected results. From what I saw, I can say that on the paper, Kaan produces much better results, using fewer grafts and charges less money than Bizanga does. Also, I found a section dedicated to doctor's operations on the Belli Capelli forum - https://bellicapelli.forumfree.it/?f=64816590. Overall, the results look above average. Also, I saw a couple of ones where the Doctor greatly improved patients' hair situation with high Norwood (4-5).
Any opinions on this doctor? Is he legit?
Maybe, someone aware of the price? A year ago, it was something like (2.10-2.25 euro per graft). Has it changed?
Does someone here speak Italian? How do people on Belli Capelli feel about the Doctor? I read several threads using the Translate Page feature and didn't find any red flags. People are positively impressed by this guy.

Thanks for mentioning that. Do you have any links to share?

OK, I already found one thing that makes me stop considering Pekiner as the hair transplant surgeon. His promotion strategy is way too aggressive. I see that he fakes users and posts results on the different forums:
See this thread - https://www.hairestorationetwork.co...n-pekiner-200619/?tab=comments#comment-512372.
And this one - https://bellicapelli.forumfree.it/?t=76790934.
I understand that the level of competition between hair transplant surgeons is extremely high(especially in Turkey), but I don't like his game.

Another sub par result.

I see nothing wrong with this. Dr. Pekiner offers a discount if patients provide him photo updates, and are encouraged to post to hair transplant forums. If this was done AFTER the 12 months, and only when a good result was achieved, then yeah that would be unethical. But posting from start to finish? I don't see an issue. I wish more clinics would provide such incentives so that we can properly evaluate their work.

You'll find such cases from all doctors, unfortunately. No one can guarantee good growth. What matters is how the doctor stands by the patient.

If you read the thread, you will see the doctor did not stand by the patient. In fact he and his representative were antagonistic.

I did read it a while ago. I don't think the Pekiner ever commented. You could argue his representatives were being antagonistic, but I just see it as defending themselves. I also recall hearing the patient trying to discredit the doctor across various hair transplant forums, prior to them responding. Most other doctors would've threatened legal action or had the patient paid off and sign an NDA, so I don't see what they did as that bad.
In general I think Pekiner is a lot more ethical than most doctors. He usually seems to act in what he thinks is the patients best interest, lowering the graft count on the day of procedure or suggesting that they not proceed at all.

It is a question of who the burden of proof belongs to.
If a clinic informed the patient that they need to take finasteride prior to the surgery, I think providing a screenshot, an email, anything and then the patient is proved to be at wrong and responsible. A reputable clinic will have records of their communications with the patient.
Having said that, the patient should disclose his own communication with the clinic as well.
I would think though that the clinic should have documentation of this communication. It is not for nothing that many clinics make patients sign much paperwork about their liability (or lacktherof) for bad outcomes.
It is an unfortunate situation for both the patient and the clinic.

Before going to Turkey (or anywhere else offering cheaper transplants) read this article in full first . . .
The bald truth about the bargain hair transplant boom in Istanbul
Harry Wallop travelled to Istanbul where he met hair surgeon Dr Batuhan Kurtoglu who said the transplant operation offered a 99 per cent chance of success.
