All the rides at Universal Orlando Resort
Here are all the rides at Universal Orlando. We will start with the rides at Universal Studios and then move on to the rides at Islands of Adventure. Although it doesn’t open until 2025, I also have a list of rides at Epic Universe and will update with more information as we learn more.
You might also want to check out30+ movies to watch before going to Universal.
Rides at Universal Studios Florida
Here are all the rides at Universal Studios, listed (somewhat) in the order that you’ll see them in the parks. I will note the height requirements, type of ride, location, and whether or not there is a motion sickness warning. Having severe motion sickness myself, and I swear by my Emeterm anti-nausea wristband.
I like the waterproof (green) one for Universal! No one is paying me to share this, it’s the only thing that I’ve used that has actually worked. Now, let’s get to the rides!
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
Minion Mayhem is a family-friendly screen ride. You can become a minion and go on a wild adventure! It can cause some serious motion sickness, so request a bench (which doesn’t move) if you’re prone to that. Like most Universal attractions, the queue is very fun and interactive.
Location: Minion Land
Height Requirements: 40 inches
Motion Sickness Warning: YES. I recommend an Emeterm anti-nausea wristband.
Fun Fact: The wait time here is often very long, so try riding first thing in the morning or later in the evening.
Villain-Con Minion Blast
This is a point-and-shoot ride, but you’re on a moving walkway and go through several rooms with different screens. This is really fun for the whole family, especially if you’re competitive! Make sure to have the Universal app as you can set up an account just for this attraction.
Location: Minion Land
Height Requirements: Officially none, but you may not hold infants or toddlers.
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: We have a YouTube video for how to get extra points in the Universal app. Check it out here: Extra Points for Villain Con Minion Blast.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is one of the first rides at Universal Studios that you’ll encounter. It’s a thrilling roller coaster allowing you to choose your music.
Rip Ride Rockit is 167 feet tall and starts by going straight up! This ride reaches speeds of up to 65 miles per hour.
Location: Not really in any area, but let’s call it Minion Land/New York.
Height Requirements: 51 inches
Motion Sickness Warning: Maybe
Fun Fact: In addition to the songs you can choose on the screen, there’s also a secret song list. Check it out here: Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Secret Song List 2024
This ride is closing at the end of 2024; we don’t know what will happen yet. Do you think it will be closed forever or just re-done? Let me know in the comments!
Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon
This is yet another motion simulator/3-D ride at Universal. Unless you’re a big fan of the show, you may not be particularly impressed. The queue for this ride is generally shorter, so it may be a good choice for a busy day.
Location: New York
Height Requirements: 40″
Motion Sickness Warning: Yes
Fun Fact: This ride is located in New York, and you race through the streets of New York on the ride!
Revenge of the Mummy
This dark roller coaster is so much fun and one of the best things to do on a rainy day at Universal. This is currently the only dark coaster at Universal. Keep in mind that this ride has drops, twists and turns, and is generally scary. This is great for adults and teens but be aware that little ones might be scared.
Location: New York
Height Requirements: 48″
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: There is a spot in the queue where something special will happen if two people put their hands on a prop in the middle. Now you have to figure out where it is, and what it does!
TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D
Transformers: The Ride is a great 3D ride for all Transformers fans. It’s also a very fun queue. You can join the Autobots and save everyone from the Decepticons.
Location: New York
Height Requirements: 40″
Motion Sickness Warning: Yes
Fun Fact: This ride is similar to Spiderman in Islands of Adventure but has a different theme. If you enjoy one, you’ll likely enjoy the other.
Fast And Furious – Supercharged
Another motion simulator/screen ride based on the Fast and Furious films. If the lines are long, skip it unless you’re a big Fast and Furious fan.
Location: San Francisco
Height Requirements: 40 inches
Motion Sickness Warning: Maybe
Fun Fact: This is easily the most hated ride at Universal Orlando.
Hogwarts Express (Kings Cross Station)
Location: London (NOT in Diagon Alley itself)
Height Requirements: None
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: The experience between Hogsmeade and London differs from the experience between London and Hogsmeade. Make sure to ride it both ways! Also, the only way to ride the Hogwarts Express is to have a park-to-park ticket, so ensure you have that.
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
This is a true hybrid ride between a roller coaster and a screen/3D ride. While it has a few thrills, it is generally family-friendly. This ride is based on Harry, Hermione and Ron escaping from Gringotts bank.
We have a video of all the rides in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter too!
Location: Diagon Alley
Height Requirements: 42″
Motion Sickness Warning: Not much
Fun Fact: The dragon above the entrance to this ride breathes fire about every 10 minutes. Make sure to have your camera out!
MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack
This is a dark ride where the goal is to shoot as many islands as possible with laser blasters. This is great for families, especially those with a competitive side! See who gets the highest score, and follow our tips on YouTube for getting a high score on MIB Alien Attack.
Location: World Expo (Past London)
Height Requirements: 42″
Motion Sickness Warning: Slightly due to some spinning.
Fun Fact:At the end of the ride, you’ll hear, “There’s only one thing left to do: push the red button!” Push the red button in front of you at just the right time, and you’ll get an additional 100,000 points added to your score!
The Simpsons Ride
The Simpsons ride is a 3D/motion simulator ride. You’ll ride on a roller coaster with Bart, Marge, Lisa, Homer, and Maggie. Although this is a great family ride, be aware of severe motion sickness!
Location: Springfield
Height Requirements: 40″
Motion Sickness Warning: Yes, probably the worst in the entire park. I won’t go on this one anymore, even with my Emeterm anti-nausea wristband.
Fun Fact: The Simpsons meet-and-greet is one of the most fun in the park!
Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl
This fun, little-one friendly ride is also located in Springfield. Guests ride in spinning vehicles (think Dumbo) with great views of all of Springfield.
Location: Springfield
Height Requirements: No requirement, but children must be able to sit up on their own (no lap infants.)
Motion Sickness Warning: A little
Fun Fact: You can control the height of your flying saucer with a small lever.
E.T. Adventure
This dark ride based on the movie “E.T.” was opened in 1990 and is still in Universal Studios today. Riders will help E.T. phone home and narrowly escape government agents. This ride is very family-friendly and one of the most nostalfic for those who have been visiting Universal since the 90s.
Location: Dreamworks Land
Height Requirements: 34″
Motion Sickness Warning:
Fun Fact: This is one of only THREE original attractions in the park and the only remaining original ride. The other two are shows, Animal Actors on Location and the Horror Makeup Show.
Trolls Trollercoaster
The newest ride at Universal Studios, the Trollercoaster is actually the same ride that was here before but it’s been painted. It’s a fun kiddie-coaster but probably not worth the wait if it’s very long. I recommend the Trolls Meet-and-greats for Trolls fans as this is just a pink ride and not really very immersive.
Location: Dreamworks Land
Height Requirements: 36 inches
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: Check out the nearby Animal Actors on Location show!
Rides at Universals Islands of Adventure
Here are all the rides at Islands of Adventure, listed (somewhat) in the order you’ll find them in the park.
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
If you go left as you enter Islands of Adventure, you’ll go into Marvel Island. This giant green roller coaster is one of the first things you’ll see. This thrilling coaster reaches speeds of up to 67 miles-per-hour. With seven inversions (the most at Universal) it’s best for those who love roller coasters.
Location: Marvel Super Hero Island
Height Requirements: 54″
Motion Sickness Warning: Possibly
Fun Fact: This is one of just a handful of rides requiring you to go through metal detectors. Velocicoaster and Rip Ride Rockit are two of the others.
Storm Force Accelatron
A teacup-style ride, some don’t even realize this one is here! If you don’t mind spinning, you can join heroes from the X-Men Universe to save the day!
Location: Marvel Super Hero Island
Height Requirements: None
Motion Sickness Warning: YES.
Fun Fact: Some people never even see this attraction as it’s tucked back behind the Hulk. Make sure to also check out the Storm meet-and-greet. She’s usually seen with Rogue.
Doctor Doom’s Fearfall
Doctor Doom’s Fearfall is a 185-foot tall tower that is easily seen from most parts of Islands of Adventure. This short but thrilling drop is your typical drop ride and is over pretty quickly. If the wait is long, keep in mind that this attraction only lasts for a few seconds.
Location: Marvel’s Super Hero Island
Height Requirements: 52″
Motion Sickness Warning: Not in the normal sense, but you will “lose your stomach” at the top.
Fun Fact: You might spot Doctor Doom or some other Super Villians nearby.
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
This is another 3D/motion simulator ride that is similar to Transformers in Universal Studios. This is a must for any Spiderman fan and a fun, family-friendly adventure. There is simulated freefall, so keep that in mind for any kids with a fear of heights.
Location: Marvel’s Super Hero Island
Height Requirements: 40″
Motion Sickness Warning: Some
Fun Fact: See how many times you can spot Stan Lee on this ride! Most people don’t notice him at all, but if you look very closely, you’ll see him 4 times!
Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges
If you love water rides, you’re in luck at Islands of Advenmture. There are three water rides here, starting with Popeye’s and Bluto’s. Of all the water rides at Universal Orlando, you’ll get the most wet on this one.
Location: Toon Lagoon
Height Requirements: 42″ (younger kids can go to “The Olive” and shoot water canons at those who are riding!)
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: Did you know that you can get Dole Whip at Universal?! You can! You’ll find Dole Whip at Wimpy’s just outside of this ride.
Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
Of the three water rides at Islands of Adventure, this is the most thrilling. You won’t get as soaked as Popeye’s and Bluto’s, but depending on your seating you might get pretty wet. This is your standard theme park “drop” ride with the biggest drop being 75 feet.
Location: Toon Lagoon
Height Requirements:
Motion Sickness Warning:
Fun Fact: Did you know that only Islands of Adventure has water rides? There are none at Universal Studios!
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
This is a trackless dark ride where you’re Kong on Skull Island. Each cart has a different “driver” so make sure to ride multiple times to choose your favorite. While this is generally family-friendly, it may be a bit scary for younger kids.
Location: No specific area, in between Toon Lagoon and Jurassic Park.
Height Requirements: 36″
Motion Sickness Warning: Some during the screen parts of the ride
Fun Fact: If you have a dinosaur fan, there are also dinosaurs spotted on this ride!
Jurassic Park River Adventure Ride
This is a thrilling water ride that starts calm and takes a turn! You’ll begin with a nice little adventure with friendly dinosaurs and end up in the restricted area! There’s an 85-foot drop at the end, so be prepared for that with any young kids. If anyone is too small or scared to ride, they can watch from Thunder Falls, and even get a little splash.
Location: Jurassic Park
Height Requirements: 42″
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: Sitting in the third row MIGHT keep you a bit drier than the other rows.
Pteranodon Flyers
Sadly, this ride is closed indefinitely due to some serious but unknown issues. . I am unsure if Universal will be fixing it or taking it down. I will update as soon as we have more information.
Location: Jurassic Park
Height Requirements: 36″-56″ (adults may only ride with a child this height)
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: This is a unique ride in that there’s a minimum and maximum height requirement. Adults could not ride alone and must ride with a child.
Jurassic World VelociCoaster
At speeds of up to 70 miles-per-hour, this is now the faster ride at Universal Orlando. Despite Owen’s reservations, they have added a roller coaster in the raptor paddock! What could go wrong?
The Velocicoaster is a unique coaster with multiple laundch sections, several inversions, and a pretty substantial amount of time upside down over the water! This is a thrilling ride even for those who love roller coasters.
Location: Jurassic Park
Height Requirements: 51″
Motion Sickness Warning: Maybe, I recommend being closer to the front
Fun Fact: The first launch section goes from 0 to 50 MPH in just 2 seconds!
Hogwarts Express (Hogsmeade Station)
Use your park-to-park ticket to head directly to London and King’s Cross Station from Hogsmeade.
Location: Hogsmeade
Height Requirements: None
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: The Hogwarts Express is the only way to transport alcohol between the two parks.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
Hagrid’s is easily the most technical and complicated rollercoaster at Universal. In fact, it may be one of the most technical and complicated roller coasters ever! This ride takes place in the Forbidden Forest. Join Hagrid and encounter Buckbeak, Aragog, Centaurs, Unicorns, and other magical creatures.
This unique roller coaster contains launches, backwards sections, a drop and thrills at every turn.
Location: Hogsmeade
Height Requirements: 48″
Motion Sickness Warning: Slightly, during the backwards section
Fun Fact: This ride often has to shut down due to how complicated it is. The line is almost always the longest here for any attraction and is best to be visited first things in the morning, or later in the evening.
Flight of the Hippogriff
Flight of the Hippogriff is a family-friendly “kiddie-coaster” with great views of Hogwarts Castle. There’s not much to this ride, but it’s lots of fun for the littlest coaster fans.
Location: Hogsmeade
Height Requirements: 36″
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: This was originally called “The Flying Unicorn” and was re-themed when Hogsmeade opened.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is one of the most highly-themed rides. Even when there is a long wait time, you’ll find that the queue is very emmersive. Even if you don’t want to ride, the queue is worth walking through!
This combination thrill ride (not truly a coaster)/dark ride/screen ride offers a bit of eveything. Be warned that the screen parts can cause pretty severe motion sickness. This is the only A Kuka-arm system ride at Universal Orlando, but another one is coming to Epic Universe.
Location: Hogsmeade
Height Requirements: 48″
Motion Sickness Warning: Yes, during many of the screen parts of this ride. It’s doable for me if I have my motion sickness wristband.
Fun Fact: The original design for this ride called for a lot more Dementors. However, J.K. Rowling said she did not want it to be too scary, so there are only a few.
The High in the sky Trolley
When you walk into islands of Adventure you can go left toward Marvel Island, or right toward Suess Landing. I went in order from left to right for this list of rides at Universal Orlando, and now we’re back in Suess Landing. The High in the Sky Trolley gives you a birdseye view of Suess Landing and is a fun family ride.
Location: Suess Landing
Height Requirements: 36″
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: There are two tracks for this ride, each with a different story. Make sure to ride more than once to experience both. My favorite track goes through Circus McGurkus Cafe.
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
I mentioned the three water rides at Islands of Adventure, but it should be worth noting that this one has a water feature too! Guests of all ages will enjoy riding the fish and getting splashed on a hot day.
Location: Suess Landing
Height Requirements: None
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: This ride has a song that tells riders which direction to steer to avoid getting wet from streams of water sprayed by other fish. So if you want to avoid getting wet, you can!
The Cat in the Hat
If you loved the book “The Cat in the Hat” this is for you! This slow, family-friendly, airconditioned ride is a great way to sit down on a hot day.
Location: Suess Landing
Height Requirements: 36″
Motion Sickness Warning: No
Fun Fact: The design of the couch (your ride vehicle) was adapted for use in MIB: Alien Attach in Universal Studios.
Caro-Seuss-El
Like a regular carousel, only better! Pick a “beast” in this unique carousel attraction featuring characters from many Dr. Suess books. This is a fun ride for the entire family.
Location: Suess Landing
Height Requirements: None
Motion Sickness Warning: Probably not
Fun Fact: There is no height requirement for this ride. Lap infants may ride with a parent in the seated section.
