In this guide, you’ll find a list of all the Universal Orlando’s height requirements for attractions at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure in 2024.

Unlike at Disney World, height plays a critical role in experiencing a lot Universal’s attractions. For some families, their children’s height will determine if it’s worth visiting, or if they should wait a little longer.

Knowing the height requirements before your trip gives you the opportunity to forewarn your children what they can and can’t ride. Think of all the meltdowns you’ll prevent.

The following rides at Universal Studios Florida attractions have minimum height requirements you have to meet in order to ride. 

Harry Potter And The Escape From Gringotts

• You must be at least 42 inches tall to rideHarry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.

• Children between 42 and 48 inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

E.T. Adventure

• You must be at least 34 inches tall to rideE.T. Adventure.

• Children between 34 and 48 inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem

• You must be at least 40 inches tall to rideDespicable Me Minion Mayhem. Guests under 40 inches can experience this ride of they sit in a stationary seat.

• Children between 40 and 48 inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast

• Supervising Companion required for children under 48” (122cm) in height. No hand-held infants.

Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon

• You must be at least 40 inches tall to rideRace Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.

• Children between 40 and 48 inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Trolls Trollercoaster

• Guests must be at least 36 inches tall to ride and at least 48 inches to ride without a supervising companion.

The Simpsons Ride

• You must be at least 40 inches tall to rideThe Simpsons Ride.

• Children between 40 and 48 inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Men In Black Alien Attack

• You must be at least 42 inches tall to rideMen In Black Alien Attack.

• Children between 42 and 48 inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Revenge Of The Mummy

• You must be at least 48 inches tall to rideRevenge of the Mummy.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit

• You must be between 51 inches and 79 inches in height to rideHollywood Rip Ride Rockit. (Yes, you can actually be TOO tall for this one.)

TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D

• You must be at least 40 inches tall to rideTRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D.

• Children between 40 and 48 inches in height must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios Florida recently opened June 14th. This is the new home for Shrek, Poppy, Branch, Puss n Boots, and KungfuPanda . There’s new interactive playgrounds, a coaster, and show.

• Trollercoaster height requirement of 36 inches for all riders, children under 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

• Shrek's Swamp for Little Ogres Children under 48" must be accompanied by a Supervising Companion at all times.

• For all slides, and wet or dry play areas in DreamWorks Land: Children under 48” must be accompanied by a Supervising Companion at all times. Adults must be accompanied by a child.

Guests of any height can ride:

• Hogwarts Express - King's Cross Station

• Kang and Kodos Twirl 'n' Hurl

The following Islands of Adventure attractions have height requirements.

VelociCoaster

• Must be at least 51″ inches to ride

Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure

• Must be at least 48 inches tall to ride Hagrid’s

Flight Of The Hippogriff

• Must be at least 36 inches tall to ride Flight of the Hippogriff.

• Children between 36 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Harry Potter And The Forbidden Journey

• Must be at least 48 inches tall to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

Skull Island: Reign Of Kong

• Must be at least 36 inches tall to ride Skull Island: Reign of Kong.

• Children between 36 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Cat In The Hat

• Must be at least 36 inches tall to ride Cat in the Hat.

• Children between 36 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

High In The Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride

• Must be at least 40 inches tall to ride The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride.

• Children between 40 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Doctor Doom's Fearfall

• Must be at least 52 inches tall to ride Doctor Doom's Fearfall.

Pteranodon Flyers

• Pteranodon Flyers has unique height requirements. 

• Each ride vehicle has 2 seats.

• 1 seat must be filled by a guest who is 36 inches to 56 inches tall. The other seat must be filled by a guest who is over 56 inches tall. 

• Children between 36 inches and 56 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

The Amazing Adventures Of Spider-Man

• Must be at least 40 inches tall to ride The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

• Children between 40 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

The Incredible Hulk Coaster

• Must be at least 54 inches tall to ride The Incredible Hulk Coaster.

Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges

• Must be at least 42 inches tall to ride Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges.

• Children between 42 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Jurassic Park River Adventure

• Must be at least 42 inches tall to ride Jurassic Park River Adventure.

• Children between 42 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls

• Must be at least 44 inches tall to ride Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls.

• Children between 44 inches and 48 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Guests of any height can ride:

• Hogwarts Express at Hogsmeade Station

• Caro-Seuss-El

• One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

• Storm Force Accelatron

A good amount of Universal Orlando’s most popular rides have test seats available for you to determine your comfort level before riding.

It's also good idea to try the test seats out if you’re really nervous about a ride, or if you want some reassurance that your body type is compatible.

If you have children that are too short to ride and the rest of the group wants to get in line, you can make it work! 

Universal Orlando offers child swap, a lifesaver for parents who still want to ride even if their children don't quite meet the height requirements. 

Child swap is available on all Universal Orlando attractions. All you have to do is let the team member at the entrance know that you want to utilize child switch. Everyone in your party will go through the line. Then, while the first party rides, up to two adults can wait with the child at the designated child switch location. 

When the others are done riding, the remaining adults can ride the attraction without having to get back in line.
